The Methodology

As a long-term Design Partner of UniCredit, we were involved from the ideation and design concept phase over to the rollout, including detailed design, prototyping, and design quality check.

 

With an Agile process, we came into contact with several managers (Product owner, Backlog Manager, Area Owner, Business Analyst) divided between local banks, central management, and the IT unit.


Orchestrating the Rollout management allows the most "advanced" CEE countries to share already developed functionalities with the rest.


What made our work pivotal was the adoption of a design system: icons, colors, styles that dictate consistency across all digital channels in all countries.

The Opportunity

Supporting UniCredit bank in redesigning their mobile banking apps, public website for all the Central Eastern European countries through continuous updates and evolutions over an 8-year ongoing collaboration.

 

Our goal was to design baseline solutions while considering the needs of users from 10 different countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Design governance and guaranteeing coherence were other hats that we had to wear in the process.

The solution

We worked constantly to reach our goal of building a scalable Global Mobile Banking App by evolving the UX interactions to create a minimal cognitive experience and a simplified visual language.

​

Working in synergy with UniCredit Central, local banks, developers, and product owners, we designed baseline solutions that were then adapted to local country requirements. The baseline solutions were also designed keeping in mind their adaptability on websites and apps.

​

We also supported the client in identifying new product offerings that could help diversify their role - from designing their investments section to improving the remote onboarding processes to evolving the bank user's personal area to simplifying the bank employee dashboard.
